Watercolor Paintings

My watercolor paintings blur the line between sketching and refinement, blending traditional techniques with a quick and expressive style that captures the essence of the landscape.

Years of practice and study with the watercolor process has led me to a style that relies on traditional techniques with loose expressive brushwork. Naturalism is important in these works, but the expressive quality of my watercolor technique helps me convey the soul of a place. The combination of technique, brushwork, and cold-pressed watercolor paper with a significant tooth allows me to mimic the natural and organic textures of the earth in the foregrounds. The fluidity and approach with the medium help me capture the atmosphere of an environment while simplifying superfluous details. These pieces are created quickly, sometimes in a single sitting, but achieving the desired result and the appropriate feeling of a place may require several attempts.
